Better than I deserve


I have not suffered nearly enough

Our pastor "recommended" that we answer the question "How have things been going?" with the reply "Better than I deserve." He said that we would get a few quizzical looks if this were our response. Even among the redeemed.

The quote above sums it up for me. The fact is that I have not suffered nearly enough for the crime that I've done. And the prone position I retain as I lean on His Grace minute by minute rails against the very core of my humanness. The debt I have can never be repaid. The love I have (Love I have?) cannot be expressed.

If You're listening, Lord, I love You. Please teach me what that means.

Hyperthreading on a Dell GX280

I have a noisy Dell GX280 at work and I was looking for solutions to the issue when I ran across the toggling of the hyperthreading option in the BIOS as a possible solution. It turns out that hyperthreading is turned off by default and it wsa reported that either turning it on or off results in the quieting of the PC. There were conflicting reports on this so I decided to try it. It didn't work. What it did do, however, was allow me to multi-task to a greater degree when I have a single process that is consuming a great deal of processor cycles. I found that a processor-intensive application will not slow down my ability to check email with Outlook or surf the web with Firefox to any great degree. As processor- and memory-intensive as these applications are I found them to be much more sluggish under the conditions I have described when hyperthreading was turned off. A clue to the meaning of life

So simple, yet volumes could be written on it. Can we ignore the fact that our relationships in our lives are where we rest much of who we are? Can I divorce my theological or philosophical musings from the fact that I am a husband, father, son, uncle, employee or from the myriad of other ways I relate to the people in my life? Can I simply and dipassoinately apply my intellect to the world around me and give no thought to fact that I am His and, wonder of wonders, He is mine? The spousal gift of self

I am just now getting over the flu that I have had for the better part of a week. I am actually now able to concentrate and get some substantial professional and personal work done.   I hate being sick. So much of it is so frustrating because there is so much I want to do, so much of what I want to be, and I am not able to do and be that when I am ill. I know I need to embrace it when it comes. At the very least it illustrates to me life in this fallen world and brings into sharper focus the spousal purpose of my body. You see, I long to give of myself to my wife. That self gift, that love gift, is made manifest through my body. My invisible desires are now visible. There is a myriad of ways that this self gift is expressed to her - from folding laundry to holding her hand when she is sad.
