Put off this....put on that

I have a family member that is struggling with a sin in his life. We have all counseled him on a biblical way to solve this problem, but he just doesn’t seem to be interested in grabbing a hold of the solutions we have proposed. One suggestion we have made to him is something that I have found to be very powerful and that is called the replacement principle. The Bible constantly talks about putting off something and putting on something else.

This is the negative paired with the positive and, the way God wired us, both have to operate in our lives for us to see any positive change. He is trying to put off the old, but putting on the new is escaping him at the moment. And his frustration mounts. As does mine.

I guess this is what it means when we do things "in our own strength."

tightvnc keyboard mapping problem in Ubuntu 9.04

I have been, off and on, having an issue with the keys on my keyboard mapping to the correct values when using the tightvnc client when paired with the vncserver vino in Ubuntu 9.04. I am not exactly sure what keyboard layout the client and server was expecting, but it seemed like every time I restarted the OS the keyboard mapping problem would come back and I would be at square one again. Well, I think I have found the workaround I was looking for . Hopefully this will help anyone else that is having this issue.
