Trouble and the house of mourning

It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart.
Sorrow is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart.
The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure. Ecclesiastes 7:2-4

"...Shall we accept good from God and not trouble?" Job 2:10

Well, the day I had been dreading has arrived. We received word this day that our sons' school, Northridge Christian School, is closing. We had a feeling that this would be the result of the work that the board had been doing these past weeks to try to keep the doors open, but the mounting shortfall in funding was much too great and, well, God saw it fit to close our school.

Thanks be to God that He used this school so mightily in the lives of our sons. The character they have, the knowledge of the Bible that they possess, and the love they have for their God is due, in no small measure, to that school. We loved that they loved to go to school. They loved their teachers and their teachers loved them. They prayed for the school and knew the blessing that it was in their lives. Northridge changed their lives to such an extent that I cannot even begin to count the ways. I dare say that they even loved God more because of the blessing the school was to them.

God, I have no idea what you are up to. None whatsoever. I know that You just aren't interested in explaining it to me right now, so I will hold on. I will hold on with all my might as You take this boat into uncharted waters. Just, please God, please take the four of us together. I want to be there with them as we sail through this storm.

Get ready, Webster Christian School. The Dudley boys are a comin'.

    1. Thanks, Sonja. Thankfully, as a family, we are in this together and God is still in control. Nothing ultimate has changed.
